Doug Hilsinger Guitar/Lead Vocals
"Started playing guitar when I was 12 years old. I remember pestering my Dad till we took a trip to the Drugstore in Spencerport NY. Got my first acoustic guitar there. I grew up listening to Country and Western ( my parents favorite) so I heard a lot of good pickers way back when. My Mom had the talent in the family, therefore I got my ability to sing from her and I thank her for that. She was always singing in church choir’s and of course around the house. Then came the Beatles and it all changed right there. It was then that my Dad and I took a trip to House of Guitars for my first electric, he actually built me my first amp. My older brother and sisters would buy the latest records and when I could get some time alone with them I would do my best to wear them out . Listening time and time again to get it A close as I could. So I figured out some guitar stuff on my own and then came the neighborhood band, the town band and eventually on to bigger and better things. I was fortunate enough to be in the presence of some really great players and friend for a number of years. I must say that’s what made me what I am today. I’ve played Blues, Country, Rock, Classic Rock, Dance- Party, Southern Rock, some jazz and some just outright Rock and Roll. Have spent much time looking for that special mix to make some magical music and I believe this band Spectra is on that path. I’m proud and honored to be involved with this caliber of musicians."

John Nau Bass / Vocals / Raising Amps from the dead
My interest in playing an instrument started with a passed around guitar at Boy Scout campfires. My main interest all through high school was the guitar, but I soon gravitated to the bass. I was always fascinated with the “bottom” side of songs, and found I possessed a natural facility with the bass. My learning curve included time spent with jazz, fusion, country, and rock groups, most notably with Tom Passamonte in” Malibu” and with my bandmates Doug and Dave in “Rockforce/Curfew”. When my two beautiful daughters entered my life, I changed hats for a while and played in a number of party/wedding groups. As my girls hit high school age, I was again able to return to more creative pursuits, performing with jam band “Jupiter 4H Project”, a number of classic rock bands, alt country band “Carol Heveron and the Impalas”, R&B group “The Scoundrels”, and girl pop group “Left On Red”, with whom I did some short tours. And currently, I am privileged to be again playing with Doug and Dave (and Van too!) in “Spectra”.

Van Sanzotta Drums / Rehearsal Space/Refreshments
Looking back as far as I can remember, I guess I always liked fooling around with sticks. I would bang on the arm of the couch with my Lincoln logs or rulers to Ma’s records, usually, Herb Alpert, Winchester Cathedral, The Singing Nuns, whatever. Then it all seemed to make sense when Ed Sullivan introduced me to the Beatles. After that I couldn’t think of anything other than drums. Christmas would come and I would get Bongos, a plastic snare drum, or something else that wasn’t a drum set. So with my toys and my friends with their toy guitars, we formed our first neighborhood rock band. On my eleventh Birthday I got my first full drum set, began practicing and never looked back. I joined one band after another and another… Road Work, The Starlords, Kelly Roberts, Platinum, Westside Drive, Doc Kavanagh, Full House, Scarecrow, The Tweeners, Betty Mangold, Freight Train, Cosmic Debris, Debbie Kendrick, Cactus Soul, The Jerks, Black Caddy Band and The Tom Cats. Along the way I worked with some very talented and inspiring drummers in the area that helped me develop my skills and push me to the next level. Jim Patric, Steve Bagandy, Mark Miller and Dave Mancini. After its all said and done, it all boils down to feeding this passion that I have for making good music with good friends, and making it sound as good as we possibly can. This is exactly what” Spectra” is all about. These guys’s got the goods and I couldn’t be happier to be a part of it. I have a feeling this Band will be around for a while.

Chuck Elberti
Former Bass Player/ Voice of reason
We also had the honor of sharing the stage with Mr Chuck Elberti who was a founding member and the original bass player for Spectra.
Unfortunately Chuck had to move on because of a battle with cancer.
He remained a close brother and supporter of the band until, much to our dismay and shock, he lost that battle on September 14,2014. Along with Chuck's beautiful family we were devastated.
We miss him deeply and owe him gratitude. Not only for his talent and awesome contribution to Spectra but for simply being the kind, soft spoken and patient man he was.
One of a kind Mr Chuck....and we will never forget you!!
